Turkish Foreign Minister confirms support for setting up Crimean Platform

22:30, 18.12.20 – UNIAN

Çavuşoğlu reiterated Turkey’s non-recognition of Russia’s illegal annexation attempt targeting Crimea.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has confirmed his country’s support for the creation of the Crimean Platform to end Russia’s occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula.

“We discussed and considered the issue of how we, together, can help Crimean Tatars. We expressed our support for the Crimean Platform initiative. Turkey does not recognize the annexation of Crimea, supports territorial integrity of Ukraine, including in Crimea, and declares this on all international platforms, in including the UN,” Çavuşoğlu told reporters in Kyiv following the first bilateral political and security consultations between Ukraine and Turkey in a new “Quadriga” format, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

He also said that Turkey advocates that the issue of Donbas be resolved within the framework of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and international law. He added that Turkey supports the ceasefire reached in eastern Ukraine, at the same time noting violations.

Çavuşoğlu added that Turkey will continue to support the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, which “has been working in difficult conditions in Donbas.”

Crimean Platform to end Russian occupation of the peninsula

At the end of July, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the finalization of the concept of the international platform, “Crimea is Ukraine.” At the beginning, it is expected to be a consultative and advisory format, which will grow into a negotiation format.

On August 24, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced that Ukraine would propose that Germany could join the future international platform for the end of the occupation of Crimea.

On September 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who participated in the general debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, called on partners to join the international platform for the end of the Russian occupation of Crimea.

On October 6, the president announced that the European Union is ready to join the platform. The summit on the launch of the Crimean platform may be held as early as May 2021.

The Platform will operate at several levels. The first, the highest one, is political level, which will involve heads of states and governments. The second level is that of top diplomats and defense chiefs, the third is inter-parliamentary level, and the fourth will involve non-governmental experts. An expert network will be created to enhance the effectiveness of government action, as well as to attract additional intellectual resources to the platform’s work.

  • “…Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced that Ukraine would propose that Germany could join the future international platform…”

This must be the 5th (?) platform to end the occupations. What was Einstein’s theory of insanity?…
One unified ultimatum 6,5 years ago would have ended this.

    • The article is about Turkish support for Ukraine and that is how you respond? This latest abomination is a constant theme of yours. This is a site that attempts to be supportive of Ukraine. You are achieving precisely the opposite. You are full of hatred for the indigenous people of Crimea; the Tatars, despite the fact that they are very loyal to Ukraine. You hate them despite the fact that they historically suffered genocide under Russian occupation and more recently many of them were fighting in Turkey-funded volunteer battalions as well as in the regular Ukraine forces. Turkey is consistently supportive of Ukraine and has had very good relations with her since independence. Ukraine is very short of friends as it is, without people like you making it worse.
Anyone feeling well disposed towards Ukraine who visits this blog might well be put off by such a rabid ‘comment’. And anyone who already hates Ukraine: and there are many, thanks to people like you, will have had their poor opinion consolidated. You are an absolute gift to leftists in the west who wrongly think that Ukraine is a hotbed of fascist extremism.
You sully Ukraine’s already damaged reputation not only with this comment, but you also frequently post Jew-hatred, despite the fact that at one time one third of all the Jews in the world resided in Ukraine before Russia and Germany did their vile ‘work’ and more recently there has been a Jewish prime minister and a Jewish president. You bring shame on Ukraine because your views and values more accurately reflect those of the Daily Stormer.

      • Turkey is not supportive of Ukraine. Turkey is supportive of Turkey. The tatars and Crimea belonged to the turkish zone of influence for a long time. Ankara want to reinstall themselves, not only in Crimea, but all of Ukraine. Further the tatars are former Nazi-collaborateurs who helped the occupiers to wipe out the jewish population. The ‘blacks’, as ukrainians call them, were never popular in Ukraine, except for the post-Maidan media and governments. I reserve my right after all the murdering, raping, beheading, stabbing and torturing christian people – to totally dislike all muslims, including the ‘good ones’. One either has a spine or one has pudding.

        • My Crimean friends do not really like the Tartars and one of them is half Tartar!
I do not like Muslims either and it doesn’t matter where they come from. They are oppressive towards their women and are dirty and smelly. I often smell them before I see them. Generally, they are demanding and dumb. They are also extremely jealous of our Western society. The world revolves around our inventions and discoveries while they linger in the middle ages with their primitive and archaic pseudo-religion.
And, Turkey? I trust that country as far as I can throw the fat Muslima Merkel! They might appear supportive of Ukraine on the outside but I strongly believe that Erdogoon desires the Crimea too. If he could, he would revive the Ottoman Empire.

          • He is already doing that, in the ME, Cyprus, the Balkans, and now Crimea. Even in RuSSia. Turkey finances mosques in Ukraine, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Bosnia, Albania and RuSSia. The islamization of the West is Erdogan’s ‘Kampf’. One must understand geopolitics to see what’s behind all this. It’s a sad age, since only Poland and Portugal resist the ottomans, the rest is a bunch of insane lunatics. When they are through with us we have no borders, no culture, and no money.

        • You are quoting Russian propaganda straight from RT. There were hundreds of thousands of Russian collaborators in ww2; millions probably. The Tatars fought and died on Russia’s side. The number of Tatar nazi collaborators from Crimea was absolutely minuscule compared to Russian collaborators. The deportations and genocide on Tatars by Stalin were nothing to do with collaborators; they were part of Stalin’s policy of genocide and race replacement. Until Lenin’s time, the Tatars were the overwhelming majority of people on the peninsula.
Turkey is not trying to take over Ukraine: Russia is. You are staggeringly ignorant about Ukrainian attitudes to Tatars, as you are about so many other things. You are using a site that defends Ukraine’s interests as a platform for your hatred of Muslims and Jews. You are promoting Russian interests and Russian talking points.
In point of fact, Ukraine has welcomed Tatars who have been forced out by the putinazis. Their businesses can be seen from Kherson to as far away as Lviv.
Why don’t you just stick to facts that can be verified instead of blackening Ukraine’s reputation even more?

          • Who are you? Twitter banning free speech? Facebook? You want to shut me up, but i will never be silent, except i’ll be killed. I’m partly ukrainian myself and i don’t need a non-slavic bum to tell me anything about my place. Seek professional help for your own sake. Your mind sees nazis and racists everywhere while denying the truth. I will no longer respond to your offensive comments. GFY!

            • I really would prefer not to have any interaction whatsoever with you. If you did not keep making comments that are helpful to Russia and very detrimental to Ukraine I wouldn’t need to.
Who am I? I’m a person who would not be welcome on the Daily Stormer. Whereas you would be loved and respected there.

              • Maybe. But i still won’t change my mind. Ukraine (real Ukraine) is in my heart and i will defend her, not only against RuSSia, but against Turkey as well. Nothing is more helpful to RuSSia than denying the slavic christian heritage of Ukraine. Nothing is more helpful to RuSSia than trying to destroy true (politically incorrect by nature) people like myself.
