Berlin wants good relations with Russia, but does not forget about Ukraine, Navalny case – Merkel

Berlin wants good relations with Moscow, but such things as the situation around opposition leader Alexei Navalny and insufficient progress in resolving the situation in Ukraine cannot be ignored, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday.

“On the one hand, we would like good strategic relations with Russia, but on the other hand, we are dealing with reality – the Navalny case and the lack of progress in Ukraine,” she said during her speech in the Bundestag.

Among the difficulties in German-Russian relations, she mentioned the murder of Tornike K. (Zelimkhan Khangoshvili) in the summer of 2019 in Berlin’s Tiergarten park, and Russian citizen who was later detained on suspicion of that murder.

At the same time, Merkel said that the German government has not changed its attitude to the project for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

  • “At the same time, Merkel said that the German government has not changed its attitude to the project for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.”

We hear you Merkel. 14,000 dead in Ukraine, civilian airlines shot down by Russia, murder on the streets of Germany and poisoning with Novichok, is not as important as the geopolitical blackmail project called Nord Stream.

    • That’s totally disgusting for her to even think about equivocating all those atrocities with Nord Stream 2. No wonder Hitler 2.0 has gone rogue during Merket’s tenure! She’s no Margaret Thatcher that’s for sure.

      • Well, money has always been top priority of Thatcher. I would not compare them. I am not sure if she would have killed Nord Stream II, as corporate interests equal Thatcher, while she literally gave 0 fucks about workers.

I don’t know with whom I can compare her. Chamberlain is the first person that comes to my mind. I think everything is wrong about what she said, and it even gives Putler more confidence.

I hope the U.S. will really teach the Germans a lesson, and sanction Germany directly. I think there should be severe consequences for financing fascism again, as if they have had completely forgotten about that happened during the 40’s.

I am afraid the Congress will show some restraint, as they probably fear some economic consequences. I would say go all out: say that the U.S. won’t adhere to Article 5 if only one inch of pipe will be added to the pipe, or send in some submarines to destroy both pipes.

    • As if the things Russia did can be forgiven. Relations can only be normal if they heal all wounded, give back everything they have stolen, bring back all 14.000 Ukrainians they have murdered, and bring back MH17 in the air with all passengers being healthy.

I think we cannot talk about better relations with Russia until the last soldier, politician or civil servant that only had the most minor stake in Russian aggression, is in prison, and even though human losses cannot be compensated with money, all families have been compensated and all damage the Russians have caused has been restored. All crimes must have been fully admitted, and legal probes must be started to everyone that carries the tiniest responsibility.

All territories must have been returned to Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, in at the very least the state it was in before occupation. And no soldier, politician or civil servant under the Putin regime, may ever work again for the government, nor any position in which any leadership is required.

Only then, we can talk about anything else than increasing sanctions.

  • That lying, corpulent stasi sprog and rodent jackboot licker is entirely devoid of compassion, a moral compass, or any decency whatsoever, just like a lot of her fellow politicians in that benighted land.
She likely will be replaced by another steaming putinoid turd when she finally goose steps off to her nazi Valhalla.

That fat ugly tick has no inkling what reality is. And, this varmint has lost all credibility after all the damage she has caused in Germanystan and to the EU. Not to mention the severe economic damage NSII will cause to Ukraine. Too bad no one is going after her with Novichok.
