Golikova said that both the headquarters data and the Rosstat data on mortality from covid are reliable. They differ by almost three times
The Russian authorities do not hide the statistics of deaths from coronavirus, and the differences in the data of the operational headquarters and Rosstat are due to different calculation methods. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova stated this.
Both in the spring and now, some respected foreign media outlets that operate on the territory of the Russian Federation claim that the statistics of detection and mortality in the Russian Federation are unreliable. <…> So, I want to say that both the data of the operational headquarters and the data of Rosstat are reliable.
According to Golikova, the deaths of only those people who have previously received a positive PCR test are included in the daily statistics of the headquarters. Rosstat statistics include all cases in which the coronavirus was identified by autopsy as the main or concomitant cause of death.
The daily data of the operational headquarters differ from the Rosstat statistics published much later by almost three times. So, by October 1 (Rosstat has no later data), according to the headquarters, 20.7 thousand people died of coronavirus, according to Rosstat – 55.6 thousand people.
Independent estimates of the number of deaths from coronavirus, made on the basis of excess mortality data, significantly exceed even Rosstat data. By October 1, excess mortality in Russia amounted to 106 thousand people; about 80% of these deaths can be directly related to the coronavirus.
