Sandu: We must bring Moldova out of isolation and thaw bilateral relations with Ukraine

President-elect of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu called for thawing bilateral relations with Ukraine.

Sandu made a relevant statement during a meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine Marko Shevchenko, the Action and Solidarity political party posted on Facebook.

It is noted that Sandu thanked President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for the greetings. The parties discussed the current situation in the Republic of Moldova and the need for close cooperation between the two countries.

During the conversation, Sandu also stressed the importance of developing a strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

“We have many common problems, as well as many opportunities that we can realize together. We must bring Moldova out of isolation and immediately thaw bilateral relations with Ukraine. At the same time, we discussed the synchronization of activities in the context of the European integration process,” Sandu said.

President-elect Maia Sandu stressed that the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine had a large agenda that would be restored in the near future.

As reported, Sandu defeated pro-Russian President Igor Dodon in the second round of the presidential election in Moldova, gaining 57.75% of the vote.

Sandu stated that she wanted to have a pragmatic dialogue with all countries, including Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine was ready for a new stage in relations with Moldova under the leadership of Maia Sandu.

    • She is absolutely right, there are many issues Moldova and Ukraine can work together on. I’ve advocated for some time that Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine should work in tandem for European integration and NATO integration as a team and speak with one very large voice. First step is to squeeze that Moskali cancer out of Moldova. It’s an ancient scam that Moldovans worry about integration with Romania and it’s not going to happen so there’s no reason for the 1945ers to remain in Transnistria. Then our soldiers could be redeployed into more important defensive theatres of operation.
