Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada proposing to terminate the powers of all Constitutional Court judges.
According to Ukrinform, the bill “On Restoration of Public Confidence in the Constitutional Judiciary” has been posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
The document proposes to recognize that the Constitutional Court decision of October 27, 2020 is null and void (not creating any legal consequences) and the one that was adopted by the judges of the Constitutional Court amid a real conflict of interest.
“The Law of Ukraine ‘On Corruption Prevention’ and the Criminal Code of Ukraine, from the date of entry into force of this Law, have the wording that was in force before the Constitutional Court of Ukraine decision No. 13-r/2020 of October 27, 2020, in case No. 1-24/2020(393/20),” the bill reads.
In addition, it is envisaged that the powers of the composition of the Constitutional Court will be terminated from the date of entry into force of this law.
“The subjects of appointment of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine shall immediately begin the selection procedure on a competitive basis with the further appointment, in the manner prescribed by the Constitution of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Constitutional Court of Ukraine,’ of the new Constitutional Court of Ukraine,” the bill reads.
The explanatory note to the document states that it was drafted to ensure compliance with the constitutional order in Ukraine and to prevent the usurpation of power by judges of the Constitutional Court.
On October 27, the Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional Article 366-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine that provides for punishment for inaccurate declaration of assets.
In particular, the article establishes liability in the form of a fine or imprisonment for the submission by subjects of declaration of deliberately inaccurate information in the asset declarations of persons authorized to perform the functions of the state or local government.
On October 28, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) closed access to the unified state register of asset declarations in pursuance of a ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. The NACP stated that Constitutional Court judges had made this decision in their own interests, as the agency found signs of some of them declaring inaccurate information.
On October 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky convened an urgent closed-door meeting of the National Security and Defense Council to determine measures for the immediate proper response of the state to new threats and challenges to national security and defense.

This is good news if it goes ahead. Will these rotten judges be replaced with more of the same, thus achieving nothing?
More than likely…
I lost survey how the system works long time ago, but i doubt Zelenskov is serious about fighting the abysmal corruption. Just another PR stunt to calm downe the IMF, US, Nato, EU and G7.
Of course it is. It will be interesting to see how Rada vote on this bill. It will certainly show which way they want Ukraine to go. If they vote against this bill, I see Maidan 3 on the horizon.
Twitter just deleted my account. Did never tweet offensive stuff, only about Ted Cruz frying the Twitter boss. Need to make a new one. All 200 followers gone. The Dems spent too much time with Lukashenko i think. 😕
Let’s hope that no one will let themselves be fooled by this fool.
Reinstated more corrupt yanu-judges is no reform….zenny.you failed on all accounts.
Demonstration started at building of the CCC .Maidan 3 at last…underway!!!!
The ruling of the CCC was based on an appeal by traitor Medvedchuk stating control of corruption assets is against his privacy! The CCC after receiving the necesarry rubles agreed!!!
I believe he was behind it.
Which means Putin is behind it. Now these rotten judges are saying that Zelensky’s bill to remove them, is a constitutional coup. Typical Russians, accuse the other side of doing exactly what they are trying to do.
Coup? Yes, Maidan 3.
Nothing what this shit nugget says that is positive can be believed and nothing he did so far is good. Only positive actions will be worth taking note of. Until then, I hope that the money givers will slam down hard on this disgusting pack or corrupt rats.
Hopefully this knuckle head will see that all of the Party of Regions types he has been appointing are only interested in one think and that is making his presidency a total failure. That way the PoR can claim that the Maidan was a failure and only they should lead the country.
And the are doing a great job of it.
I fhe does not reigen in the Court he will be out of a job.
And I am not talking but a just Maidan3. the PoR will kick him under the bus and put their own guy in.
Good news
The EU parliament has supported Ze’s bill in the Rada;
“We call on the Ukrainian government and legislators to act as soon as possible to fill the legal gap identified by the Constitutional Court ruling and to quickly restore a fully operational, effective and comprehensive institutional architecture to combat corruption, including in the judiciary, while fully preserving the latter’s independence.”
I am leery of the precedent of dissolving the Constitutional Court for dislikable decisions but their rulings are so disastrously immoral it boggles the mind.
