Ukraine has been included in the list of countries that can export corn and grain seeds to the EU countries, according to Deputy Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Taras Kachka.
“Ukrainian cereal seed in the EU – mission accomplished. Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on the equivalence of cereal seed produced in Ukraine was published in the Official Journal of the European Union today. The decision will come into force in 20 days,” Kachka wrote on his Facebook page.
Thus, another component of the Ukrainian agricultural market has been integrated into the EU, he noted.
Kachka also added that the decision mentioned the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine due to the fact that the European Union had been delaying the adoption of this decision for five years.
On October 7, 2020, the European Parliament recognized the Ukrainian seed certification system as equivalent to EU requirements. Thus, Ukrainian seed produced in Ukraine, both domestic selection and selection of foreign seed companies, gained access to the EU market.
