Zelensky also called on the UN to take part in the implementation of the project to provide Donbas with drinking water.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky invited the UN to develop a joint plan for the restoration of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This proposal was made during a meeting with the United Nations resident coordinator in Ukraine Osnat Lubrani, according to the press service of the President’s Office.
“The President called on the United Nations to jointly develop an action plan to rebuild Donbas after its de-occupation,” the statement informs.
Zelensky also called on the UN to take part in the implementation of a project to provide Donbas with drinking water.
“We would like you to pay attention to such an important project, which is very difficult for us to pull out only at the expense of the budget of Ukraine – this is the issue of drinking water for Donbas,” the head of state emphasized.
He noted that we are talking about both reconstruction and construction of a water supply network. The head of state recalled that Switzerland is participating in the project.
As we reported earlier, the free economic zone in Donbas will be introduced only in the territory controlled by Ukraine.
The introduction of the free economic zone will facilitate the attraction of investments in the region and the end of the war.
“I have a feeling that big money will come there and they might to everything for growth of Donbas. It will be a great influence on people who live in the temporarily occupied territories. They will see that it is better to live in free Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
