Germany refuses to allow Russian consul to visit Navalny
Russia believes that hysteria is artificially inflated around the situation with opposition leader
Russia believes that hysteria around the situation with Navalny is being artificially inflated. The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the debates in the Bundestag, during which the situation with Navalny was discussed. The Russian side calls the statements of German MPs that the Russian Federation is not ready for dialogue with Germany to be a lie.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also claims that Berlin continues to ignore cooperation with Moscow on the poisoning of Navalny.
“There are no answers to the questions asked by the Russian side through the political dialogue, as well as through the diplomatic channels. The Russian Embassy in Berlin has received a refusal from the German Foreign Ministry for assistance in providing consular access to Navalny,” the statement said.
On August 20, on the way to Moscow from Tomsk, Alexei Navalny became ill during the flight, so the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk. The Russian oppositionist was hospitalized in serious condition. On August 21, Omsk doctors allowed the politician to be transported to Germany. He underwent treatment at the German clinic Charite. On September 22, the Russian oppositionist was discharged from the hospital.
The fact that Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent from the Novichok group was first confirmed by a German military laboratory, and later by laboratories from two more countries – France and Sweden.
