Harassment of Russian-speaking schoolchildren is a new favorite topic of Russian propaganda
Authors:Marina DovzhenkoThe propagandists took full advantage of the beginning of compulsory teaching in Ukrainian schools.
Since the beginning of September, when Ukrainian schools began teaching according to new rules, which provide for the teaching of 80% of subjects in the Ukrainian language , (pro) Russian propaganda resources have intensified the spread of messages about “harassment of Russian-speaking citizens.” At the same time, the issue of the language of instruction at school was emphasized by the speakers of the party “Opposition Platform – For Life”, whose representatives include, in particular, TV channels “Inter”, “112”, NewsOne and ZIK. This is stated in the review of the penetration of Russian propaganda in the Ukrainian media in September 2020 .
According to the author of the monitoring Petro Burkovsky, the topic turned out to be productive, because the speed of transition to the Ukrainian language of instruction really worries residents of Donetsk, Luhansk and other regions, where a large number of students have chosen Russian as the language of instruction.
The country reported that local parents and teachers were going to sabotage the decision without worrying about the consequences of their actions. “I don’t think it would be a crime if the percentage of subjects in Ukrainian turned out to be a little lower than specified in the law,” the director of one of the Russian schools told us on the basis of anonymity .
Yuriy Boyko, co-chair of the OPZZ, said that the party would repeal “unconstitutional” laws on language in the Constitutional Court. At the same time, Viktor Medvedchuk, chairman of the party’s political council, was engaged in “hyperbolizing” and “personifying” the language problem at school: ” Zelensky and his entourage are responsible for the cynical massacre of the Russian language in Ukraine .” Read about these and other theses of pro-Russian propaganda spread in the Ukrainian media in the material of Peter Burkovsky.
