Belarus notes Ukraine’s extremely unfriendly gestures

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus notes extremely unfriendly gestures on the part of Ukraine as well as attempts to interfere in Belarus’ domestic affairs, the Belarusian embassy in Ukraine told BelTA.

According to the source, a representative of the Belarusian embassy in Ukraine met with representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 1 October.

The Ukrainian side was informed that Belarus has always been committed and remains committed to principles of good neighborhood. Belarus has never tolerated and will not tolerate interference in Ukraine’s domestic political processes. Belarus has never doubted the sovereign right of the Ukrainian nation to determine its way of development on its own. It is a fundamental stance for Belarus and has been repeatedly reaffirmed in critical periods of time for Ukraine.

It was pointed out that Belarus does not tolerate interference in its own domestic affairs. At the same time public recommendations and advice of Ukrainian government officials, politicians, and MPs regarding the organization of the domestic political life in Belarus, evaluations of Belarus’ interaction with integration associations are impolite, fail to live up to the spirit of good neighborhood and are viewed as an attempt to interfere in Belarus’ domestic affairs and influence the choice of the Belarusian people.

Statements by the Ukrainian parliament, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ukrainian minister of foreign affairs, and multiple public statements by the country’s leadership and a number of Ukrainian high-ranking officials about the domestic political situation in Belarus, the legitimacy of the Belarus president, the situation at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, appeals for a new presidential election in Belarus, discussions about the enforcement of sanctions against Belarus on the basis of unsubstantiated reasons are viewed as extremely unfriendly gestures on the part of Ukraine. Such gestures contribute nothing to the continued trust in Belarusian-Ukrainian relations. The gestures are also viewed as attempts to interfere in Belarus’ domestic affairs.

The Belarusian side is also puzzled by frequent calls of individual politicians and public figures for curtailing economic cooperation between Ukraine and Belarus. Trade and economic cooperation has always been a key priority in Belarusian-Ukrainian relations and the main area of the embassy’s work. If these irresponsible calls are acted upon, workers of Belarusian enterprises will suffer as well as workers of the Ukrainian enterprises that supply a broad range of Ukrainian goods to Belarus within the framework of manufacturing cooperation schemes.

The embassy underlined it is inadmissible for Ukraine to encourage and approve of actions meant to destabilize the public and political situation in Belarus, actions that destroy the constructive format of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations. It was stated that Belarus will handle the complicated situation the Belarusian society is in on its own. The embassy counts on Ukraine’s objective, balanced stance that lives up to the spirit of good neighborhood and is based on principles of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs of each other.

  • “The Ukrainian side was informed that Belarus has always been committed and remains committed to principles of good neighborhood.”

BS. Does that include voting against the UN resolution on Crimea in 2014, for your Russian masters? Your ex president accused Ukraine of funding these protests, without producing a shred of evidence, and now you whine because Ukraine are not friendly towards you. Yep, Belarus has now been totally Russified.

  • As long as there is any obvious mafiosi influence dominating any stinking statements from new Mini-Me, Ukraine knows where to place them. That’s right, flushed right down the toilet.
