Baby boxes will be issued in Ukraine again. Today, September 30, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the second reading supported the draft law No. 3006a “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine” On State Assistance to Families with Children “regarding the provision of one-time natural assistance” baby package “at birth.”

A total of 264 out of 226 required MPs voted for the document. For the law to come into force, the president must sign it.

According to the explanatory note, the new law is intended to return the “baby package” to its natural form – parents will be provided with a set of essential goods free of charge within 30 days from the date of birth.

If there is no baby box in the maternity hospital, it will be issued by the social security department at the place of residence or stay after writing an application.

What things will be in the new “Baby Package” is still unknown. The bill states that the complete set of baby boxes is approved by the central executive authority, which ensures the formation and implements of the state policy in the field of social protection.

However, it is known that the cost of baby boxing is set at at least three living wages for children under six years of age: from December 1, 2020, this amount will be 5,763 hryvnia.

It is also stipulated that from July 1, 2021, instead of the “Baby Package”, it will be possible to receive monetary compensation, but the procedure for such payment must still be developed by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Recall that baby boxes in Ukraine have been issued since 2018, but in the summer of 2020, the government decided to replace them with monetary compensation. You can pay for purchases with issued bank cards only in certain stores.
