There are dozens of violations of Minsk agreements, allowed by Russian mercenaries, Leonid Kravchuk says.
Ukraine will be insisting that inspections of the Ukrainian military positions were conducted simultaneously with the checks of those held by Russian mercenaries. Leonid Kravchuk, the first president of Ukraine and the head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Minsk talks group said so in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“This is not entirely up to Ukraine to decide. Ukraine can only decide things in one case – for it not to be unilateral. If there’s an inspection, it has to be on both sides, because we witnessed dozens, approximately 50 cases, when the other side breaches these Minsk agreements, which they say we breach, too”, Kravchuk said.
The official ruled out the situation when Ukraine accepts the mercenaries’ demands about conducting inspections without enjoying the opportunity to use the OSCE support and make the militants obey the same conditions.
Kravchuk added that the OSCE is monitoring the way of how the opposing sides live up to these demands. Since there is not mechanism of control of how the ceasefire works in Donbas, it needs to be created, Kravchuk concluded.
