Medvedchuk: Verkhovna Rada’s decision on non-recognition of Belarus elections is scheme of ‘party of war’ aimed at severing relations with all our neighbors

The politician stressed that he strongly disagrees with this opinion because Belarus is our neighbor

The decision of the Verkhovna Rada on non-recognition of the elections in Belarus is a scheme of the “party of war” aiming to sever relations with all our neighbors. The Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform – For Life Party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk said this to journalists before the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday, September 16.

“I believe that this resolution (on non-recognition of elections in Belarus – ed.) and this statement, which, to the great regret of most Ukrainians, was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, is another scheme, this is the policy of the “party of war” demonstrated today in the parliament. The “party of war” is represented today by a part of the Servant of the People Party. These are primarily representatives of Soros and other international organizations. It is Holos Party, a faction, it is the European Solidarity faction and Poroshenko, it is Batkivshchyna faction, who believe that today their assessment of the elections in Belarus is essential, and “it is ultimately necessary for the interests of Ukraine,” he said.

The politician stressed that he strongly disagrees with this opinion because Belarus is our neighbor.

“It is, by the way, the last neighbor with whom we had more or less normal relations, including economic ones. Belarus is Ukraine’s energy partner. I can give you an example that for the first half of 2020, 31%, think about it, 31% today oil products have been supplied to Ukraine from Belarus. I can tell you the results of previous years. It is approximately 24-28% of diesel fuel annually supplied to Ukraine by Belarus, 24-26% of liquefied gas and 45% of all petroleum. Think about how much of an economically important energy partner Belarus is for us. And the border between Ukraine and Belarus is 1,084 km. I emphasize once again – this is our last neighbor, with whom we break off any relations with such statements, spoil them, despite the fact that the opinion of our people is completely different. Look at any sociology that assesses the attitude of our Ukrainians towards international leaders, and you will see that Mr. Lukashenko is in the first place. Our citizens show 45 to 54% of trust to the Belarusian leader today,” Medvedchuk noted.

In his opinion, everything that is happening in Belarus now is the internal affairs of Belarus. Ukraine should not, did not have the right to behave in the way it is put down in the statement adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.

“Again, this was all done to please the “party of war,” in order to severe relations with all our neighbors. This is the state interests and it is the national security, because today it is subject to serious blows and serious risks, including the energy independence of Ukraine, because a third of the supplies of oil products from Belarus is very serious. If tomorrow they stop it for any reason, and in this case, there can only be a political reason, these will be dire consequences for our country,” the politician added.

Medvedchuk also noted that one should not forget that Minsk continues to be a platform for a peaceful settlement, a platform for reaching issues of a peaceful settlement, and has been such since 2015.

“This should be appreciated, it should be respected and attention should be paid to it. But those who voted yesterday, and they got barely more than the required number – 228 votes, they just want to disrupt the Minsk negotiation process today, do everything in order not to reach a peaceful settlement, to prevent the return of Donbas to Ukraine, and Ukraine to Donbas. This is the goal of the “party of war,” which is increasingly manifested in this parliament. And, to my and to our party’s great regret, part of Servant of the People faction is also going along the line of such actions directed against the interests of Ukraine,” the politician believes.

Earlier, Medvedchuk said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team have no chance of achieving peace in Donbas.

One question to Putin’s lapdog. Which ex president of which country accused Ukraine, among other countries of funding the opposition in Belarus, BEFORE Ukraine refused to recognise the election results?

Sorry, two questions. Which Putin lapdog recognised the results and congratulated Luka on his victory, 5 minutes after Putin recognised them?

  2. ‘it is Batkivshchyna faction, who believe that today their assessment of the elections in Belarus is essential, and “it is ultimately necessary for the interests of Ukraine,” he said.’

Why would Ukraine back a dictator who is a clone of Yanuk? Where does this putlerist asshole live?

  3. This piece of shit actually is right. As I advocated, the govt of Ukraine should have said nothing at all about Belarus, because from its point of view, what will change? One putlerite trash dictator likely will be replaced by another one.
‘Earlier, Medvedchuk said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team have no chance of achieving peace in Donbas.’
Well, he got that right too as well didn’t he?
Stay out of it and concentrate on alleviating the putler occupation problem.

    • It’s about principles, Sir. We cannot tolerate electoral fraud and violence against innocent people in Belarus. If we would, we would lose all credibility concerning the ukrainian cause.

      • In a democracy, individuals, media and politicians are free to say what they like and express outrage about the hitler loving Luka, but govt should not side with any opposition entity until it is known clearly what their stance towards Ukraine is.

          • Neither do I! Point is, it looks like Luka will remain in power, as a putler puppet. So what’s the point of the Ukr govt taking a position at this point in time?

            • Moral. And if they want Hitler. If that is what they want, it is their democratic right to choose him. You can’t have democracy without democracy.

  4. Medvechucky is like the television clown; they both utter a lot of garbage and nothing anywhere near intelligent. In other words, they are both shit-for-brains.
