The heads of state agreed to meet by phone. Putin also “warmly congratulated” Lukashenko on his birthday, the press service of the Russian president said.
Lukashenka’s press service has confirmed the agreements of the heads of state on a personal meeting “in the near future”, Interfax reports.
Putin and Lukashenko talked on the phone for the fifth time since the day of the presidential elections and the beginning of protests in Belarus, RBC notes . Putin, among other things, congratulated Lukashenko on winning the elections on August 9 (according to the Belarusian Central Election Commission, Lukashenko won 80% of the vote).
