The official is expected to meet with senior government leaders to discuss a range of regional and international issues.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E. Biegun will visit Kyiv, Vilnius and Moscow next week, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv says.
“Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E. Biegun will travel to Vilnius, Lithuania; Moscow, Russia; Kyiv, Ukraine August 24–27 to meet with senior government leaders to discuss a range of regional and international issues,” the Embassy wrote on Facebook on August 23.
“Deputy Secretary Biegun will travel to Vienna, Austria, August 27 to meet with counterparts at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to discuss issues related to regional security and human rights,” it added.
Purpose of the visit
On August 22, Reuters reported, citing sources, that “Biegun was expected to leave in the coming days for Moscow and the Lithuanian capital Vilnius” to hold talks on the situation in Belarus.
Reading between the lines I would assume the visit to Lithuania is to speak with the opposition leader. Then go to Moscow and the Trump administration will just tell the losers in the Kremlin what they already know. Good they’re going directly to Lukashenko’s boss.
The headquarters of ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya announced her possible meeting with US First Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Bigan, as Interfax reports with reference to a source in the headquarters of Tsikhanouskaya.
“Indeed, Svetlana is planning a certain meeting, but I do not know the personalities and the agenda,” Olga Kovalkova, Tsikhanouskaya’s associate, confirmed the information.
What is a ‘Biegun’?
Lukashenko is about to find out.
Just checked his background. Is from Detroit, early life section is missing (…). Whatever he is, i hope he will bring a message from Trump, telling the poisoner to go fuck himself!
“Deputy Secretary Biegun will travel to Vienna, Austria, August 27 to meet with counterparts at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to discuss issues related to regional security and human rights,”
This is one part of the trip he can cross off his list. Nothing good will come out of meeting this bunch of losers.
