Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian film director and former political prisoner of Russia, reacted critically to the celebrations of the official part of the Independence Day celebrations .

He posted his thoughts on the celebration on Facebook.

According to him, the official event on Sofia Square ” very well illuminates what is happening in the head of the president, his entourage, and their supporters.”

He called the event “a pop sabbath with a Russian flavor, promises to hold a Victory parade over the enemy, in the absence of understanding how this can happen, even if the regime of silence lasts for hundreds of years.”

At the same time, the filmmaker emphasized: “It’s so good that next to this false world there is a real one, where people who know the value of words and actions walk in calm columns in camouflage clothes, and people on the streets say to them:“ Thank you! ” “

Recall that a concert was held on Sofia Square during the official celebrations on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.

The performance began with the Melody of Miroslav Skorik, then Monatik, Potap, Taras Topolya, Jamala, Nina Matvienko, Irina Bilyk, Olya Polyakova and other celebrities sang. Verka Serduchka was brought to the square on the roof of a carriage on wheels.

Some of the songs were performed in Russian.

It was planned that the concert will feature songs that were popular in independent Ukraine.
