Tymoshenko has COVID-19, the condition is assessed as serious
The leader of the Batkivshchyna party and parliamentary faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus, her condition is assessed as grave, said the politician’s press secretary Marina Soroka.
“Yes, unfortunately this is true. The test showed that Yulia Vladimirovna has COVID-19. The condition is assessed as serious. The temperature is up to 39. She is fighting!”, Soroka wrote on her Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
Former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko has tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is in serious condition with a fever, her party’s spokeswoman said on Sunday.
Tymoshenko, 59, who twice served as premier before her defeat in the 2010 presidential election, became the first high-profile Ukrainian politician known to have contracted COVID-19. Parliament has been on summer vacation since mid-July.
“Her condition is assessed as serious, her temperature is up to 39 (Celsius),” the spokeswoman for her Fatherland party said, declining to say whether Tymoshenko had been hospitalised or give further detail.
Earlier today, RBC-Ukraine, citing reliable sources, wrote that Tymoshenko had contracted the coronavirus. Also, this information was confirmed by ex-MP Ihor Mosiychuk on Facebook.
It was reported that, together with the leader of Batkivshchyna, her daughter Yevgenia and her husband, Artur Chechetkin, fell ill with coronavirus.
