Lukashenko: at our first request for military assistance, Russia will provide comprehensive assistance
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting at the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces that Russia is ready, at the request of Belarus, to provide “all-round assistance to ensure the security of the Republic of Belarus.”
“When it comes to the military component, we have an agreement with the Russian Federation within the framework of the Union State and the CSTO. These are the moments that fit this agreement. Therefore, today I had a long, detailed conversation with the President of Russia about the situation. I must say, I was even somewhat surprised – I am absolutely privy to what is happening. And we agreed with him – at our very first request, comprehensive assistance will be provided to ensure the security of the Republic of Belarus, ”Lukashenko said.
Alexander Lukashenko spoke on the phone with Vladimir Putin on August 15 and discussed the internal situation in Belarus. The Kremlin said in a press release that the presidents are confident that the problems in Belarus will soon be resolved. They “reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening allied relations.”
