Ukraine ready to be NATO’s main partner in Black Sea
Ukraine is ready to be the main partner of the North Atlantic Alliance to ensure security in the Black Sea.
Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna said this at a meeting with British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons on August 11, the Vice Prime Minister’s Office reported on Facebook.
“As part of NATO’s Enhanced Opportunities Partner (EOP), which Ukraine recently joined, we hope to intensify our common efforts to ensure security in the Black Sea region and to work closely together to overcome hybrid threats,” she said.
The following issues were discussed at the meeting: progress and further steps to agree on the provisions of the Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade and Partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom; participation of Ukraine in the European Green Deal; the importance of ecologically friendly and responsible attitude to the environment and economic recovery after the coronavirus crisis; implementation of the Annual National Program led by the NATO-Ukraine Commission, deepening cooperation within the framework of the NATO-Ukraine Platform on Combating Hybrid Warfare; agenda in achieving gender equality, combating domestic violence, in particular the importance of information work.
Stefanishyna also thanked for the constant increase in the volume of technical assistance provided by the UK government s to Ukraine in order to support economic reforms, security, and overcome the consequences of the Russian aggression in Donbas, as well as for humanitarian and educational projects.
