DCH, Chinese investors to jointly develop Motor Sich

Representatives of the DCH group, owned by Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, have reached an agreement with Chinese investors representing Skyrizon Aircraft Holdings Limited on the joint development of Motor Sich, according to a statement posted on the group’s official website.
“Both parties will conduct comprehensive cooperation by carrying out joint activities to improve the Ukrainian aircraft industry and, in particular, Zaporizhia-based PJSC Motor Sich,” the statement reads.
It notes that DCH has extensive experience in the restoration and modernization of industrial enterprises demonstrated by the stable operation of Kharkiv Tractor Plant, Dnipro Metallurgical Plant, and the Sukha Balka mine in Kryvyi Rih.
DCH has built and effectively administered a modern airport in Kharkiv. DCH is also participating in a project to build a new airport in Dnipro as a private investor in the airport complex.

This is not good for Ukraine. The Chinks are only interested in stealing Ukrainian technology, but do Ukraine have any options? The US are complaining about Motor Sich and China, but I don’t see any US checkbook coming out. UKraine are in no position to pick and choose investors, unfortunately, and China are probably the lesser of two evils, rather them than Muscovy.

The Chinese own at least two US aircraft companies, Cirrus and Mooney, as well as the engine manufacturer Continental. The Chinks desperately need engine technology as they can’t build a reliable turbine engine, and they can get composite structure technology from Cirrus. Motor Sich, IIRC, built turbine engines for helicopters and the same basic tech is used in larger engines for fixed wing aircraft. From what I understand, but may not be true, the Chinese tried to get Lycoming, the other US general aviation engine maker as the had produced good turbine engines in the past. Their engines powered the Army’s UH-1 and AH-1 and the T-750 has been stripped of its turboshaft gear and used to power at least one homebuilt jet design.
