The United States strongly supports Ukraine’s efforts to establish a comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas.

“The United States strongly supports Ukraine in its determined efforts to fully implement a ceasefire. We are hopeful that reality on the ground will fully reflect the ceasefire called for in the Minsk agreements, as additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire agreed upon by the Trilateral Contact Group take effect on July 27,” the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine posted on Twitter.

The embassy notes that compliance with a ceasefire would bring respite to civilian communities affected by over six years of violence and open the path for a full and comprehensive settlement of the Russia-created conflict in eastern Ukraine.”

As Ukrinform reported, during a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) in Minsk on July 22, the parties agreed on a complete and comprehensive ceasefire on the contact line in Donbas from July 27.

At least they acknowledge that the ‘conflict’ is Russia-created. But on the downside, the phrase ‘open the path for a full and comprehensive settlement’ strongly implies that there is something to negotiate. There isn’t. Leave and pay full reparations. That’s all.

  • Just the other day I spoke to a Moldovan. He pointed out to me that his country is literally dying. The Russian army has been occupying since 1990 and the population has been steadily declining every year since then. Official unemployment is 8%; actual is 40%, with a disproportionate level of pensioners. Anyone with any get up and go, goes.
Moldova has no chance whatsoever of Nato or EU membership and the rest of Europe and the world sneers at them for being ‘the poorest country in Europe’ without asking why.
No one is talking about ‘Transnistria’ and no active measures are being taken. The matter has been forgotten. This is putler’s model for Ukraine: a hopeless, powerless, desperately poor country with a Russian puppet president. Absolutely no one gives a fuck about Moldova. A tragic and terrible state of affairs.

    • I love Moldova. Moldova’s problem is that it lacks an identity. The moldovan(romanian)-speakers want to unite with Romania, the ruSSian-speakers want to be a ruSSian colony. As long as there won’t arise some moldovan nationalism which opposes joining foreign countries, it will suffer. I wish them all the strength and luck in the world! 🇲🇩

      • Out of a population of 3m, there are only 100,000 Russians in the non-Russia occupied areas. In fact more Ukrainians than Russians live there. Official language is Romanian. He reported that despite the grinding poverty, there seems little desire to join Romania. I have no idea why.
Maybe they should consider joining Ukraine, just to put the little rat’s nose out of joint?

“The United States strongly supports Ukraine’s efforts to establish a comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas.”
Only some in our government know that only comprehensive, fist-punching, punishing sanctions against mafia land and much more effort in the assistance of armament of Ukrainian forces will bring anything near a lasting cease-fire. And, then what?
Mafia land must be fed dog shit, its leaders must be hounded like game, its economy must be destroyed. Harsh treatment is the only weapon to decapitate the crime syndicate hydra in Moscow.
