The State Archives of Odesa Oblast may be transferred from the emergency building of the Brod Synagogue to the premises of the National Bank. The head of the regional state administration Maxim Kutsiy told about it.

According to him, on July 1, the Odessa Regional State Administration signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Association of Architects of Odessa. The partners united around the rescue of the regional State Archives.

“The archive is a world historical heritage, which includes 2 million documents with artifacts 400 years old. It is located in the building of the Brod Synagogue, which is an architectural monument and has been declared emergency since 1986.

Together with the chairman of the association Volodymyr Khalin and his colleagues, we propose to move the archive to the building of the National Bank, which is also an architectural monument and is currently empty. We have already submitted such a proposal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, “Maksym Kutsiy said.

The head of the regional state administration added that in case the archive moves, the Jewish community is ready to restore the Brod synagogue building.
