“Wrong” residents of Donbass
How the occupying power reacts to the participation of migrants in the Minsk talks
The participation of migrants from areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts not controlled by Ukraine in the meetings of the Tripartite Contact Group caused real outrage in Russia and its satellites. Comments from the Russian side sounded to everyone’s taste – from restrained but threatening accusations of unwillingness to compromise to outright insults. But all this hysteria only once again confirmed the correctness of the actions of the Ukrainian side. It became clear that they hit the target.
The nervous reaction of the Russians is quite clear: it is the migrants – residents of Luhansk and Donetsk, who were forced to leave their hometowns due to persecution, are witnesses to the crimes of Russia and its puppets, as well as living proof that not all Donbass support LDNR militants and dream to separate from Ukraine. By the very fact of their existence, the author of these lines and other Ukrainian representatives of certain districts of Luhansk and Donetsk destroy the picture built by Russian propaganda, which depicts Donbass as a totally pro-Russian region, where the entire population supports the formation of LDNR.
For example, the head of the Russian delegation at the talks on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas, Boris Gryzlov, accused Ukraine of actually withdrawing from the Minsk agreements. “Kyiv refuses to discuss political issues – in accordance with paragraphs 11, 12 of the package of measures to implement the Minsk agreements – with Donetsk, Luhansk and is going to discuss them with former residents of Donbass, who now live in Ukraine,” he said. At the same time, the Russian representative could not explain why some Donetsk residents were better than others and why the “former residents of Donbass” became the former. In turn, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov (that is, in fact, Putin himself) also said that the implementation of the Minsk agreements is on the verge of failure. “If we talk about the Minsk set of measures, the situation is potentially very dangerous,” he said.
But none of the Russian representatives was able to specify exactly how and where Kyiv violated the Minsk agreements when it involved residents of Donetsk and Luhansk in the talks. Apart from the traditional emotional accusations from Russia, no specifics were voiced. What to say about others …
In his statement, the leader of the DNR group, Denys Pushylin, took personal insults and began calling the representatives of certain districts in the Ukrainian delegation “traitors” and “villains.”
Demonstrative statements are heard that these are representatives of Donbass – Kazansky and Garmash. “It is difficult to imagine a more anecdotal situation. They are outright villains, traitors, propagandists, ”Pushilin was indignant. In fact, it is very easy to imagine a more anecdotal situation. And it consists in the fact that a petty swindler from Makeyevka declared himself a representative of Donbass, who dragged gullible Donetsk residents into the MMM financial pyramid, and proudly put himself on the same level with Sergei Mavrodi and openly called him a swindler (the corresponding video has been preserved). But if we abstract from Pushylin’s personality, it is not difficult to notice the confusion and anger of the representatives of the Russian occupation administration, who do not understand what to do and how to respond to the unusual course of the Ukrainian side. Representatives of the former Party of Regions from Yanukovych’s entourage also came to life. in unison with the Russians and militants, opposed the presence of migrants from Donbass in the Tripartite Contact Group. For example, the corresponding statement was made by the ex-deputy of the VI convocation from the Party of Regions Valery Bondyk, who is often mentioned as a participant in corruption schemes. He posted his comment on several “drain tanks” that specialize in publishing custom materials.
“They appropriated such a status on their own, and if we speak in legal language, it is a criminal case, an abuse of rights – they took and appropriated the status of representatives,” Yanukovych’s ally said. And, as befits the former regionals, he lied, because the migrants were included in the Ukrainian delegation by the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and did not appoint themselves there, so accordingly they did not appropriate anything to themselves. “Both, as they said in Donbass, did not build a kennel, there is no biography of people, except for jeans,” – said the regional Bondyk.
Approximately in the same vein, other representatives of the former Party of Regions spoke: Elena Bondarenko, Elena Lukash, Andrei Portnov and similar characters. Their claims mostly concerned the political views of the author of these lines and other immigrants from Donetsk and Luhansk, namely our pro-Ukrainian, patriotic position. Oddly enough, in Ukraine, an immigrant from ORDiLO can be criticized for … supporting Ukraine. Sounds like madness, but it is today’s reality of our country.
Another claim made to Ukrainian representatives of certain districts of Donbass in the Tripartite Contact Group is illegitimacy. Like, there was no public selection of candidates. But given the situation where there is no statutory mechanism for selecting migrants for the Ukrainian delegation, it is clear that such claims can be made to any displaced persons involved in such negotiations. And, of course, members of LDNR groups sitting on Russian bayonets and speaking on behalf of Donbass certainly do not have the right to do so. However, the regionals urge to listen to those people and agree with them.
It is also worth mentioning the representatives of the patriotic and nationalist camp, who perceived the participation of migrants in the negotiations on Donbass as another betrayal and saw it as a support to the Russian side. Separately for them, it should be said that the format of negotiations with the participation of migrants has not changed at all, because none of us is an official and we participate in the negotiations only as representatives of civil society. As for the very fact of our participation, the Russian side has already reacted to it quite eloquently. And this reaction can not be called positive.
In general, it is hardly possible to talk about a breakthrough in the negotiations: so far the situation is deadlocked due to the position of the Russian side and its satellites, which refuse to discuss a number of fundamental issues without which the implementation of the Minsk agreements is impossible. For example, to clearly define the boundaries of what should, by law, be considered separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It is known that after the signing of the Minsk agreements, the militants with the support of Russia seized several more cities and a total of 1,700 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. The clear coordinates of the demarcation line are defined by the Minsk Memorandum of September 19, 2014. And there are no other documents that could be relied on when defining the boundaries of ORDiLO. However, the Russian side refuses to return the occupied territory. And without this progress in the negotiations is not expected,
