Over the past 24 hours, more than 9,000 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Russia. The country is now in second place by the number of coronavirus infections in the world, ahead of Spain. Until now, Russia was third.
This is evidenced by data from the resource Worldometers, which regularly updates registered cases around the world.
There is a total of 281,752 cases of infection in Russia, of which 67,373 people recovered.
The official death toll from coronavirus in Russia remains surprisingly low (2,631 people) compared to other European countries with a similar number of patients.
