Brian Whitmore: Tinker, tailor, hitman, spy

Editor’s Note: “The Power Vertical” is a CEPA podcast covering the Kremlin for Kremlin watchers. All opinions are those of the presenter and do not necessarily represent the position or views of the institutions they represent or the Center for European Policy Analysis.

Is he a diplomat? Or is he a hit man? Is it an intelligence service? Or is it a crime syndicate? Is it a state? Or is it a mafia? I ask these questions because something caught my attention this week that highlights the nature of Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin regime and undermines the logic of those calling for rapprochement with Moscow.

  • Could you imagine Brian being the PM or President of Germany or France. Europe would be a hell of a safer place to live.

    • I was thinking the very same thing as I read the caption above. This guy has more brains and courage in his pinky than the vast majority of European eunuch politicians have in their skulls and spines.

  • . Even as Donald Trump campaigned against the naïve trust previous generations of American leaders placed in international organizations, international treaties, and the international marketplace, deriding the very notion of a world built on trust rather than hard power, he has consistently made an exception when it comes to Putin.Such open opposition by an American president to his own national security apparatus is unprecedented. The fact that the President would take Putin at his word over that of the intelligence community is quite simply unconscionable.

    The answers are simple:
    Poopin is a hitman.
There is no intelligence service in mafia land. It is a crime syndicate.
The Russia is not a state anymore. It is a mafia land.
Brian Whitmore should be in higher politics … in Europe, where they need brains and bravery.
