Sanctions against Russia will remain in place until aggression in Ukraine ceases – Pompeo
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo states that sanctions against Russia will remain in force until Russian aggression in Ukraine ceases.
“Russia’s aggression in Ukraine has led to the senseless loss of thousands of lives in the Donbas. Today, I joined Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko to honor their memories. Sanctions against Russia will remain in place until the actions that led to these tragic deaths cease,” Pompeo wrote on his Twitter account on January 31.
Prior to that, the Secretary held meetings with Prystaiko and Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius.
“Good discussion with Vadym Prystaiko. The U.S. welcomes Ukraine’s efforts to bring peace to the Donbas. Russia must reciprocate. Our sanctions will remain in place until Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is restored,” Pompeo noted.
As Ukrinform reported, the U.S. Secretary of State visited Kyiv. On January 31, Pompeo also met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
