Putin’s press secretary: Zelensky and Putin shook hands when meeting

This is the first meeting between Zelensky and Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin shook hands before the Normandy Summit. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said this, RIA News reported.

It is worth noting that this is the first meeting of Zelensky and Putin.

As we reported, the peace negotiations, known as the Normandy format, started back in 2014. The last Normandy Four meeting took place in October 2016, the roadmap on establishing peace in Ukraine was elaborated, however, the parties failed to fulfill it.

  1. It must have been the famous invisible handshake. This is what Reuters said:

“After a series of bilateral meetings at the Elysee Palace, Putin and Zelenskiy entered the room for a meeting of the four leaders making little eye contact with one another and with no smiles. They did not shake hands for the cameras.”

  2. 7:37 p.m.

Hromadske’s correspondent reports that that the Élysée Palace has confirmed that the four-way portion of the summit has ended, and that the bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy has begun. A press conference is planned after the bilateral meeting.

  3. 8:13 p.m.

The Office of the President has stated that the bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy will be followed by a resumption of four-way talks, prolonging the summit.

  4. 9:20 p.m.

Putin, walking from the bilateral meeting to the working dinner, says “Good, it was businesslike,” in passing to a reporter’s question. He also replied “Yes, I’m happy,” in response to another question about his feelings on the result of the summit.

Putin is happy with the results! All I needed to know!
