Member of United Russia Party from Crimea Detained After Trying to Get Ukrainian Passport

Igor Kucheryavy was an early supporter of Russia’s illegal actions in Crimea

Member of the Russian political party United Russia and Crimean resident Igor Kucheryavy was detained at the Kalanchak checkpoint after he entered government-controlled territory to get a Ukrainian Passport, Ukrainian online media atr.ua reported.

On December 3, 2019, Kucheryavy, who actively supported the occupation of the peninsula, was detained by SBU employees when he was on his way back to Crimea at the Kalanchak checkpoint on the administrative border with Crimea. Reportedly, the purpose of the visit to the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson was to get a Ukrainian passport.

During the illegal annexation of the peninsula, Kucheryavy organized the so-called “self-defense units” and “roadblocks” in Sevastopol. He was awarded the medal “For the Return of Crimea” by the Russian Ministry of Defense. He is now in the interrogation process.

With a link to the Facebook post of Vice President of the World Congress of Crimean Tatar people, Lenur Isliamov, the outlet published a direct quote from Kucheryavy.

“With what they give out in Crimea, you won’t go anywhere, but you want to travel,” Kucheryavy reportedly said.

Maybe you should have thought about that before you turned traitor. Now return to your hovel, and the shithole Russia turned Crimea into.
