Ministry of Defense considers return of captured ships by Russia as execution of decision of Maritime Tribunal

Meanwhile, Russian side denies connection between decision of tribunal and transfer of ships to Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine considers the return by Russia of the Nikopol, Berdyansk and Yana Kapu tugboats captured in November last year as the implementation of the May decision of the International Maritime Tribunal. Andriy Zagorodniuk announced it on Facebook

“The return of boats and a tugboat is not an act of goodwill. I see these events as nothing more than the implementation by the aggressor state of the May decision of the International Maritime Tribunal,” – Zagorodniuk wrote.

He noted that after receiving the vessels, experts will inspect them and give recommendations on how to return them to service as quickly as possible.

“We will continue to build a capable navy that will protect Ukraine. This is the key to stability in the region,” – the Minister of Defense emphasized.

For his part, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that there is no connection between the decision of the International Tribunal and the transfer of ships to Ukraine by Russia, Interfax writes.

“This has nothing to do with the international tribunal. There is no connection here and there cannot be,” – said Peskov.

As we reported, as of 10 a.m. on November 17, captured Ukrainian military boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol” are in the water area of the Henmol port in Kerch.

  1. “This has nothing to do with the international tribunal. There is no connection here and there cannot be,” – said Peskov.

In May Muscovy was ordered to return the ships by Itlos. November Muscovy returned the ships. I see a connection retard. No good will ever come out of the mafia state, only death and destruction.

    • The only reason for no connection as I can see is that Russia never accept any international court decisions, it’s a mafia state!

      • What is annoying all the media are saying the same. They should all have headlines that say Russia abides by court ruling, just to wind them up.

        • That would be honesty by the media…
They should say, “Muskovy finally complies with court decision,”. And Muskovy’s reply, “No, we don’t comply with court decisions, we just finally stole everything.”
