Deputy Marshal of Polish Parliament: Poland will not extradite detained Donbas war veteran to Russia

Deputy Marshal of the Polish Sejm (Parliament) Małgorzata Gosiewska said that Poland will not extradite Ihor Mazur to the Russian Federation. Under the standard procedure, on November 12, Interpol’s arrest warrant will be considered in the independent court.

“The detention of Ihor Mazur at the Polish border is only a technical execution of international agreements and obligations by Poland. A civil activist and a veteran of the war in the Donbas, Georgia, and Chechnya became a victim of the actions of the Eastern neighbor,” wrote Gosiewska on her Facebook page.

According to her, “Russian security forces have added him to the Interpol’s detention register”.

“This is a good example of how the Kremlin uses the institutions of international law for political revenge,” she added.

She noted that the Polish authorities and the courts are investigating the case. For its part, Gosiewska promised to guarantee presumption of innocence to Mazur.

“For my part, I will help and guarantee the presumption of innocence of Ihor Mazur against Russia’s charges,” she added.

Earlier, the volunteer, the veteran of the war in the Donbas, one of the founders of Resistance Movement against Capitulation Ihor Mazur, known under a call sign “Topol,” was detained in Poland.
