Assistant of the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov stated that the Russian side was ready to hold the Summit but in case of its careful preparation
Little progress has been achieved during the preparation to the Summit in the Normandy Format, though all the participants of the event still want to hold the meeting, according to Assistant of the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov. Interfax news agency reported that.
“Now, I would say that the preparation in context of the planned meeting in the Normandy Format has made little progress. However, all the sides still want to hold the meeting,” he said during the briefing in Moscow.
Assistant of the President of the Russian Federation underlined that the Russian side was ready to hold the Summit but in case of its careful preparation.
Russia’s position is known in this issue, as he added.
“We want the summit was carefully prepared, including agreement of the project of the final decisions. We also want to see the indicative steps towards implementation of Minsk agreements, not recording Kyiv’s wish to reconsider these agreements and the status of the Complex Plan,” Ushakov emphasized.
“Particularly, during the conversation between Merkel and Putin, the state leaders negotiated to give instructions both for advisers and ministries again to try to arrange positions,” the Assistant mentioned.
Besides, the Kremlin believes that mixed messages sound from Kyiv after signing the Steinmeier formula.
“I mean, there is a lot of confusion: mixed and unconstructive statements from Kuchma’s press secretary relating to the work of the Trilateral Contact Group, misunderstanding heard from other representatives of Kyiv including President of Ukraine Zelensky,” Ushakov said to journalists during the briefing in Moscow.
