Vice PM Kuleba: Ukraine's movement towards EU and NATO ongoing

21.10.2019 15:50Ukraine’s movement towards full-fledged EU and NATO membership is ongoing and unchanged.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba made a corresponding statement during “NATO-Ukraine: What’s on the Negotiating Table?” discussion panel, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Present-day focus on our relationship with the Alliance is based on two things. First, we have to become more useful to each other and, second, we have to form as large Euro-Atlantic group in the Armed Forces and the law enforcement agencies as possible,” Kuleba said, noting he means not just people who believe in NATO and European integration but those who speak one language with NATO and share the Alliance’s philosophy.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, the fundamental change in the work of the new team is to have fewer slogans and more actual work aimed at Ukraine’s integration.

He also stressed that the path to full-fledged EU and NATO membership was enshrined in the government’s five-year action plan, apart from the Constitution.

Kuleba added that Ukraine already had certain indicators that correlate with those of NATO. In particular, it’s gender ratio in the army. “We now have 10.6% of women in the Armed Forces, with an average of 10.9% in NATO,” the official noted.
