Withdrawal of troops is canceled, militants violated agreement – Priestayko

The troop withdrawal in Petrivske and Zolote will not take place, since the militants violated the agreement.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadim Pristayko made a corresponding statement at a joint briefing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs.

According to him, the withdrawal of troops should begin on the seventh day after peace is maintained at a particular site and there is no shelling, and the ORLDO fighters have recently fired at the positions of the JFO forces in Petrivske and Zolote conducting several fire attacks.

“Today withdrawal was due to begin. Indeed, our negotiating teams agreed on this in Minsk. Unfortunately, you know yourself, Petrivske and Zolotoe came under fire a few days ago,” the minister said.

Now, according to Priestayko, they will have to wait for the next seven days, during which the militants must prove that they are “serious and ready for further steps, such as withdrawal.”

Meanwhile, volunteers who arrived yesterday, on October 6, in Zolote report that shelling of this town continues – during this night they recorded eight arrivals of shells of enemy artillery.

“So, there is no “ceasefire”. The withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from here is a crime of power and a catastrophe. Volunteers remain in place to defend Zolote if the military are ordered to withdraw. We will not give up a meter of our land!” reads the message of the volunteers in the telegram channel.

Earlier, QHA media reported, on September 21, 2016, participants in the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk signed a framework document on the redeployment of forces and assets in the Donbass in the area of Zolote, Stanytsia Luhanska (both settlements are in Luhansk region) and on the Petrivske-Boghanivka section (Donetsk region).

On the condition there is no shelling there for a certain period (seven days), then both the Ukrainian army and the militants should move 1 kilometer away from the positions. These agreements have never been fully implemented.

On June 26, the Ukrainian military were the first to withdraw from one of the positions that was in front of the Stanytsia Luhanska. The withdrawal of forces was supervised by the OSCE mission and is the first stage of the withdrawal of forces from the outskirts of the village.

  1. At last someone with commonsense in Ukraine, of course Muscovy will blame Ukraine for this violation, but I think we all know, no ceasefire will ever exist with the mafia state.

  2. Ceasefire does not exactly suit the Kriminalin interests. The only way peace will be established is capitulation to Pootlerstan, or crush Pootlerstan under boot heels.

What is your opinion?
