Foreign Minister of Denmark Jeppe Kofod expressed support of Kyiv position toward Nord Stream 2 and European integration during the meeting with Ukrainian colleague Vadym Prystaiko as Ukraine’s ministry reported.

“The exchange of opinions took place on the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The common position on the significant threat of this project for European security and the environment was recognized,” the message said.

According to the Danish foreign minister, Denmark continues to support the European integration course of Ukraine. Besides, Copenhagen positive position on the reforms in Ukraine will remain unchanged.

The foreign ministers also discussed the steps aiming for the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

On September 23, U.S. President Donald Trump and Polish President Andrzej Duda discussed the ways to stop the implementation of Russian-Germany Nord Stream 2 project.

On September 17, it was reported that the vessel Solitaire is edging closer to what could be a costly hold-up for the Russian-led gas pipeline project which has divided the European Union. The crew onboard the Solitaire expect to reach Danish waters early next month, but Denmark has yet to approve the pipeline, which is planned to begin transporting natural gas from Russia to Germany at the end of this year.
