NATO membership remains Ukraine’s priority – foreign minister

Full membership in NATO remains a priority for Ukraine, Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko has stated.

According to him, the current government does not withdraw the issue of Membership Action Plan (MAP) from the agenda. “There all the necessary formal mechanisms – if you need MAP, okay, let it be MAP. We will apply for it when we are ready to get a positive answer, and when Ukraine is ready to do it,” the minister said in an interview with Hromadske.

“My personal position is that no matter how the current conflict ends we still need to think about how to ensure our security for the future. I believe that nothing better than NATO has been invented in our part of the continent … Therefore, for me, NATO membership is the most effective method of defending our independence,” Prystaiko summed up.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that Russia should not interfere in the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.

    • Ha! As long as that Marxist tosspot is at the helm, excuses will keep being made to block any nation that Russia is waging war with or even just menacing. Nato only accepts piss-ass countries like Albania or putler jackboot licker countries like Hungary or Italy. As if Italy would ever fight Russia?! They would surrender even quicker than the frogs.

What is your opinion?
