Malaysia, Russia look to expand defence co-operation

Jon Grevatt, Bangkok – Jane’s Defence Industry

Malaysia and Russia have outlined an intention to enhance defence industrial collaboration in support of defence trade.

The Malaysian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the move was highlighted as a priority in meetings held in Kuala Lumpur in late August between Malaysian defence minister Mohamad Sabu and Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council.

The MoD said it was Malaysia’s “desire to enhance defence industry co-operation through smart partnerships, joint ventures, and strategic business alliances” between Malaysian and Russian defence companies.

The MoD added that the two countries will also look to deepen information sharing on issues including cyber defence, national security, and anti-terrorism.

  • “The MoD added that the two countries will also look to deepen information sharing on issues including cyber defence, national security, and anti-terrorism.”

It beggars belief that a country that lost lives to the terrorist state of Russia, are contemplating sharing information on anti terrorism with them. It’s becoming clear now, why the geriatric Malaysian PM is blaming the West for MH17 being downed. I hope he chokes on his rubles, this man is a disgrace to his country.
