Presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania discuss Ukraine’s path of EU integration

The Lithuanian leader invited Zelensky to Vilnius.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nausėda during his visit to Warsaw to commemorate the 80th anniversary of World War II and discussed with the Lithuanian leader Ukraine’s movement toward the European Union.
“We have chosen this course and will continue to make reforms. We will do them for ourselves, rather than for the EU. However, they are in line with the EU’s vision,” the Ukrainian president’s press service quoted Zelensky as saying on September 1.
The leaders praised the economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral relations in the sectors.
The parties also discussed the intensification of cooperation in the field of alternative energy. The Lithuanian side reaffirmed the preparations for holding the 2020 Ukraine Reform Conference in Lithuania. Moreover, the delegations also discussed the issues of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas, in particular within the Normandy format.
The Lithuanian president invited Zelensky to Vilnius. In turn, the Ukrainian leader urged the Lithuanian delegation to attend the international investment forum for the restoration of Donbas, which is planned to be held in Mariupol this autumn.
