Annexation of Crimea is Obama’s mistake, says Trump

The annexation of Crimea, after which Russia was expelled from G8, occurred during the term of US President Barack Obama and was his mistake, while the occupation of the peninsula could have been stopped.

“And the other [problem] was in Ukraine having to do with a certain section of Ukraine that you know very well [Crimea]… It was sort of taken away under President Obama, not taken away from President Trump,” US President Donald Trump said at a press conference after the G7 Summit in French Biarritz, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

In Trump’s opinion, that was embarrassing to Obama and he wanted Russia to be out of G8.

A journalist, who asked the US president a question, told him that Russia had been expelled from the G8 precisely because of the annexation of Crimea and not because “Putin outsmarted Obama” as Trump noted.

“I know you like President Obama but the Crimea was annexed during President Obama’s term. If it was annexed during my term, I would say ‘Sorry folks, I’ve made a mistake!’ President Obama was helping Ukraine, Crimea was annexed during his term,” Trump answered.

Trump reminded that Crimea is “a very big area, very important area’ where Russia has its submarines, noting they are not as powerful and large as the American ones.

The annexation of Crimea, according to Trump, “was not a good thing.”

“It could have been stopped. It could have stopped with the right… whatever. It could have been stopped. But President Obama was unable to stop it and it’s too bad,” Trump said.

  1. I would like to know how Trump would have stopped Russia from annexing Crimea. Of course he doesn’t say how, but I assume he would have invited him to the WH for a chinwag.

  2. This is what Mikhel Saakashvili, Georgia’s former president said:

“During and after Ukraine’s revolution of 2014, which ousted a Kremlin-backed dictator, on a daily basis the United States cautioned Ukraine not to escalate in response to Russian aggression. Thus, Putin saw an opportunity to annex Crimea without risking a direct confrontation with the West—and he seized it. Putin is a bully, but not a fool.”

    • Unlucky for Ukraine and the world that John Mac or Ronnie R were not POTUS at the time. Dubya also deserves very severe criticism for his piss poor response to the invasion of Georgia in 2008, which included the disgusting sacking of the town of Gori. The latter was accurately portrayed by Renny Harlin in his movie 5 Days of War, starring Andy Garcia. Highly recommended. It’s available free on YouTube.

Well knock me down with a feather! Would he have described the Russia-Germany pincer movement that invaded Poland in 1939 in the same way, like that other Russia sympathizer FDR? I guess yes. Contrast the horrible things he said about people in his own party such as Mitt Romney, John McCain and Ted Cruz, with the flattery and groveling that he slathers all over fuehrer putler.
Of course I said his own party, almost forgetting that most of his life he was a Democrat. The Clintons attended his most recent wedding! The venal and sinister putler shill Michael Flynn was a registered Democrat too and probably still is.

What is your opinion?
